Abstract
The aim of this study was to find out teachers’ perception on the use of English songs as media in teaching English at SD IT Bina Ilmi Palembang. It was carried out by using a qualitative research design as it attempted to describe the problems. The participants of this study were one teacher in SD IT Bina Ilmi Palembang by using purposive sampling technique. Interview was conducted to collect the data, and the data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The finding showed that there were three categories of teachers’ perception on the use of English songs as media in teaching English: (a) teachers feel that by using English songs students can easily learn vocabulary, (b) teachers feel that English songs are easy to access, and (c) teachers feel that students are more motivated to learn vocabulary by using English songs. In short, of this research showed that the teachers have perception on the use of English songs as media in teaching English especially in the effect of English songs in learning vocabulary.
