Abstract
Soil insects are insects that live in the soil, both those that live on the surface of the soil and those that are found in the soil. Soil insects play an important role in the ecosystem in the weathering process organic materials and their presence and activity have a positive effect on physical chemical properties of soil.This study aims to identify the types of soil surfaces found on the forest floor in the rubber plantation area of Jalan Baru, Kelurahan Talang Ubi Timur, Kecamatan Talang Ubi, Kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan by using the berlese funnel method. This type of research uses descriptive quantitative research. Data collection is done by using a purposive sampling method. The sample collection technique is by using a Berlese funnel. Soil insects were then identified at species level with morphometric method. A ground insect found on a forest floor in the Kareit plantation area of Jalan Baru, Kelurahan Talang Ubi Timur, Kecamatan Talang Ubi, Kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan,, consists of 5 orders, 5 families, 7 genera and 7 species, namely Clivina fossor Linnaeus, Euborellia annulipes Lucas, Pangaeus bilineatus Say, Anoplolepis gracilipes Smith, Diacamma skalpratum Smith, Technomyrmex albipes Smith, and Allonemobius fasciatus De Geer.
