Abstract
This research examines potential of the South Sumatra Provincial library service as an educational tourism destination. The aim of this research is to determine the potential of the South Sumatra Provincial library service. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from an interview with 8 informants, observation and documentation. The results of this research showed that the South Sumatra Provincial Library Service has potential as an educational tourism destination because it has fulfilled the attraction, accessibility, amenities and ancillary components which can be seen from the educational tourism attraction which is already running well. The results of the SWOT analysis should that the library have the potential to become an educational tourism destination with supporting strength factors such as superior programs provided, opportunity factors such as government and supporting literacy communities. Meanwhile, weaknesses included infrastructure that is not yet modern and society's perspective is not right, as well as threats from technological developments such as online games, also make people prefer to play via smartphone without having to leave the house. Meanwhile, analysis to overcome this weekness are by providing educational programs by collaborating with the government and literacy communities, as well as carrying out more effective promotions to attract public interest and participation in library educational tourism activities. In conclusion the South Sumatra Provincial library service has the potential as educational tourism, and in the future the South Sumatra Provincial library service can improve existing shortcomings.
