The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not there is a significant improvement and significant difference on the tenth grade students’ narrative reading comprehension who were taught by using Jigsaw technique and those who were taught by using STAD technique at MA YPGS Gunung Batu in academic year of 2017/2018. The population of this study consisted of 90 students of the tenth grade students at MA YPGS Gunung Batu in Academic of 2017/2018. There were sixty students taken as sample. Each class consisted of thirty students from class X.1 as experimental 2 and thirty students from class X.2 as experimental 1. The sample of this study was taken by using convenience sampling method. In this study, the writer used pretest-posttest non-equivalent group design. The instrument used in collecting the data was reading comprehension test in the form of multiple choice. The test was administrated twice, as the pretest and posttest for both experimental 1 and experimental 2. The result of the test were analyzed by using IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) Statistics 23. The result showed that “there was means significant difference from students’ posttest scores in experimental 1 and experimental 2, it was found the p-output (Sig.2-tailed) was lower than 0.05 level and t-value (2.244) is higher than t-table (2.029). So, the Ho (the null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (the alternative hypothesis) was accepted. It means that there was significant difference on students’ reading comprehension achievement taught using Jigsaw technique and STAD technique.
