Abstract

The title of the study is students’ perceptions on the use of Google Classroom in learning reading comprehension at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Qualitative method with a case study was used in this research. Maximum variation was taken to choose the participants, and 3 students were chosen as the participants of the study based on their low, medium, and high achievement. In order to collect the data, face to face interview was done containing 10 items of the questions. Thematic analysis technique was used in analyzing the data. Regarding the result of the study, it was found that the use of Google Classroom as a learning method for improving students' reading comprehension could be classified into positive perceptions. The positive perceptions were as follows; (a) the students felt that Google Classroom was easy to set up and use, (b) students often made an agreement with the teacher regarding the time to submit assignments, (c) the students stated that learning reading comprehension through Google Classroom was saving more time compared to offline learning, (d) the students felt that the facilities offered by Google Classroom were useful such as attendance features and a place to submit assignments.
