Abstract
The aims of the study were to find out the relationships among students’ English reading speed between reading comprehension achievement of English Education Study Program students at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in the academic year 2017-2018; and whether it influenced their reading comprehension achievement. The study was in the form of correlational research method. The population of the study was 583 active English education study program students of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. By using purposive sampling technique, there were 87 students involved as participants in this research. The data were gained by using two kind of test, reading speed text test and reading comprehension. Descriptive statistics, Pearson product moment correlation were employed to analyze the data. From the data analyses, it was found that there was no statically significant correlation between students’ English reading speed attitude and their reading comprehension achievement (p-value.778>.005). As the result the second problem was eliminated. In short, reading speed did not have any relation to reading comprehension achievement. Keywords: English Reading Speed, Reading Comprehension Achievement.
