Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of emotional intelligence on school burnout. The research approach used in this study is the Non-experimental method, and data collection is conducted using scales. The scales used include the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form (TEIQue-SF) developed by Petrides and Furnham (2009) and adapted by Febriana (2021), and the School Burnout Inventory (SBI) Indonesian version developed by Salmela-Aro and Naatanen (2005) and adapted by Rahman (2020). The population size in this study is 240 high school students, and the sample consists of 150 students from Muhammadiyah 8 High School in Palembang. The data analysis using regression analysis technique assisted by JASP software version 18.03shows that there is a significant negative influence of emotional intelligence on school burnout. This is evidenced by the results (R2=0.022; β= -0.171; Sig. =0.038).
