Abstract
This research aimed at finding out: the types of adverb of error made by the tenth grade students of MA Al-Fatah Palembang. The method of this research was qualitative research by using case study approach. There were 38 tenth grade students of MA Al-Fatah Palembang that were given a test. In this test, there were 50 sentences which contained adjective words. Those adjective words had been provided in the brackets beside sentences. Then, those students were asked to change adjective words into adverb of manner words. In analyzing, identifying, and describing the data, thematic analysis was used in this research. Then, in deciding themes in thematic analysis, deductive approach was used. It was used to categorize the themes based on the theoritical framework or approach based on existing theory. Furthermore, the theory which was used was based on surface structure taxonomies from Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982). Based on the result of this research, there were four types of adverb of manner error made by the tenth grade students of MA Al-Fatah Palembang which were found. They were omission error, addition error, misformation error and misordering error.
