Abstract

This research had a goal, to know students' critical thinking abilities through the application of problem-based learning models. The study method used a descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were class VIII A of SMP Patra Mandiri 1 Palembang, with 26 students. Data analysis in the research was qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students' critical thinking ability with Theorem Pythagoras was categorited, namely, (1) a very critical category with a percentage of 3.8%, (2) a critical category with a percentage of 23.1%. (3) a low critical category with a percentage of 42.3%. (4) a very low critical category with a percentage of 30.8%. While the average class critical thinking ability is in the low critical category with average 52,69.
