Abstract
Subterranean termites (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgern) is a species of termites are an important contribution to damage the wood. Meanwhile, betel leaf (Piper betle) is a plant that contains the active compound in the form of essential oils, kavikol, tannins, phenols, and alkaloids that can serve as an insecticide. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the juice of betel leaf (Piper betle L.) for pest control subterranean termites (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgern) and determine the concentration of the effective administration of betel leaf juice to the death of subterranean termites. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biology, Faculty of Science Tarbiyah and Teaching State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang and in Sekojo, Palembang, using experimental methods and a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of five treatments and five replications treatment are: P0= without giving a betel leaf juice / use distilled water alone (control), P1 = concentration of 25% juice of betel leaf, P2= concentration of 50% juice of betel leaf, P3= concentration of 75% juice of betel leaf, P4 = concentration of 100% juice of betel leaf. This study uses a method of spraying. Data were analyzed by F test followed by a test LSD (least significant difference test). The parameters of the study was the number of deaths of subterranean termites from hour to hour-12 to 72. The results showed that the juice of betel leaf concentration of 100% (P4) give a significant influence on mortality subterranean termites, and the juice of betel leaf at 100% concentration is the concentration of the most effective way to kill 100% of subterranean termites in the 48th hour after treatment.
