Abstract
Grammar is an essential and inseparable part in language teaching, so teachers have tended to use communicative activities in teaching grammar instructions. The aim of this study is to find out teachers’ and students’ perceptions toward grammar instruction in communicative language teaching classroom. This study is qualitative with case study design. The participants of this study were 2 teachers and 4 students from Islamic Junior High School number 2 Palembang chosen by using purposeful sampling method. Interview was used to collect the data. The data obtained from the interview were analysed by using thematic analysis. The result of the study showed that the several teachers’ and students’ perception toward grammar instruction in communicative language teaching, the important of grammar, classroom activities, quality and quantity of error correction, the role of teachers in classroom, and the role and contribution of students in learning process.
