Abstract
Strategy in communication is a way of managing the implementation of communication operations to be successful. Communication strategy is essentially planning and management to achieve a goal. And to achieve this goal, the strategy does not function as a road map that only shows the direction, but must also show the operational tactics. This study aims to determine the communication strategy in increasing the number of students. The communication strategy activities carried out by SMK Sjakhyakirti Palembang are using banners and brochures that are distributed to each junior high school, and this is done in the context of promoting the school to the public and promotional activities like this are still going on for years until now. Currently, the development of the era in the era of globalization and technological advances in the field of marketing has brought the impact of fierce competition in conducting school promotions. In this research, used descriptive qualitative method with marketing communication theory. The results show that the communication strategy used by SMK Sjakhyakirti Palembang by using marketing communication theory can maximally help increase the number of students, this can be seen in 2019/2020 the number of students owned by SMK Sjakhyakirti Palembang has increased compared to the previous academic year.
