Abstract
The objective of this study was to find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching descriptive text writing. Thus, a qualitative design which is a case study was used in this study. For collecting the data, the researcher used a semi-structured interview. Two teachers of English were chosen as participants by using purposeful sampling. Thematic analysis was used to find the description of the data. The researcher found eight strategies used by the teachers in teaching descriptive text writing at MAN 2 Palembang, they were; (1) word wall, (2) provide comprehensible input, (3) make the lesson visual, (4) link new information, (5) determine key concepts, (6) modify vocabulary instruction, (7) cooperative learning, and (8) modify testing.
