Abstract
The process of learning in the Islamic Jam'iyah MTs Ogan Ilir Tanjung Pinang is still dominated by the teacher, so the results are less effective. Based on this background the researcher wants to apply the method of problem solving in the learning process in MTs Jam'iyah Islamiah Tanjung Pinang Ogan Ilir. The purpose of this study is (1) To describe the implementation of learning mathematics through problem solving methods on the learning outcomes of students in eighth grade mathematics MTs Islamic Jam'iyah Tanjung Pinang Ogan Ilir, (2) To determine the learning outcome of students after the methods problem Solving was applied in class VIII in Tanjung Pinang Islamic Jami'yah MTs Ogan Ilir. This study used an experimental research design which VIII.B as a experiment class with class 20 student and VIII.A as a control class with 18 student. Based on the results obtained the average value of students learning outcome experiment class was 78,5 that included in good categories, while the control class was 69 that included in the enough category. From the t-test was obtained After calculation of the t-test obtained ttest = 2,21 and ttabel = 2,03, because thitung > ttabel then
