Abstract
This research represents the competence of librarians possessed by Maine in the anime Honzuki no Gekokujo by taking a semiotic approach according to SLA librarian competency standards seen from professional abilities (hard skills) and personal abilities (soft skills). as well as looking at aspects of Myne’s behavior and appearance throughout the series. The research method that researchers use is qualitative research (content analysis) with a semiotic analysis approach using Roland Barthes' theory— data collection techniques using documentation and literature study. The unit of story content related to librarian competency according to SLA competency standards in animated stories is 10-minute sequences in 8 episodes which contain SLA competency in them, among others, In minutes (15:31-17:35) Episode 3, minutes (07:01 -09:34) Episode 4, minutes (13:22-15:32) Episode 5, Minutes (09:03-11:31) and (13:18-13:52) Episode 6, minutes (05:37- 07:41) Episode 7, minutes (05:50-07:32) Episode 10, minutes (03:22-06:58) Episode 14, and minutes (06:22-08:35) and minutes (09:32- 11:35). Sequence analysis shows SLA Librarian competencies in the anime, such as professional abilities (hard skills) and personal abilities (soft skills), such as managing, modifying, distributing, and applying information, having good communication skills, and solving problems. This research shows that Myne is the main character in the animated series, who had a background as a librarian in Japan before dying and being reincarnated in Ehrenfest as Rozemyne or Myne. Character analysis and background analysis show character development in terms of the Myne character's behavior, nature, and personality. The results of this research will help expand semiotic studies in the library and information science field.
