Abstract

The development of teaching materials based on the process skills approach on theme 4 sub-theme 3 SD/MI class V was carried out because based on the background of the problems in the research, students were less enthusiastic in the learning process, teachers still used conventional methods, teachers only used teacher books and available students from the government as the main benchmark, even though the teaching materials provided by the government are limited in scope. In addition, from the discussion of the material, namely in learning 1 Indonesian language and science lessons, the material is not so detailed that students still do not really understand the material in the thematic books used. Therefore, researchers developed teaching materials in the form of textbooks with more detailed material and based on a process skills approach, namely by linking learning materials by focusing learning based on the process freely and creatively, physical and mental skills based on the orientation of students' abilities so that they are easier to understand. understand the material. The purpose of this study was to design the design of teaching materials, to test the validity of teaching materials and to test the practicality of teaching materials. The research method used is the research and development method using the Tessmer development model. The Tessmer development model consists of 2 stages, namely the Preliminary stage which consists of the preparation stage and the design stage and the formative evaluation stage which consists of the self evaluation stage, expert review, one to one, small group, and field test. However, this research did not reach the field test stage. The data collection used is observation, oral interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The validity of the data was tested using a questionnaire at the expert review stage and one to one, while the practicality test of the data used a questionnaire at the small group stage. The subjects of this study were students of class V F SD Negeri 129 Palembang with a total of 13 students. The results showed that: (1) the thematic teaching material design planning based on the process skills approach could be used to test its validity which was carried out at the expert review and one to one stages. This can be seen from the assessment at the self-evaluation stage in the form of comments and suggestions used to revise the teaching materials to be used as prototype I so that their validity can be tested at the next stage, (2) the assessment of the results of the validation questionnaire conducted at the expert review stage with a score of 92 and one to one with a score of 100, so with an average of 96 and categorized as very valid, and (3) the assessment of the results of the practicality questionnaire conducted at the small group stage in the form of a score with an average of 100 so that it is categorized as very practical.
