Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between sense of humor and academic stress in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Lilin. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Lilin totaling 300 students. The sampling technique used in this study is to look at the table developed by Isaac and Michael with an error rate of 5%, namely 169 students. This study uses a quantitative correlation method and emphasizes data analysis in the form of numbers that can be processed using SPSS statistics Version 28.0 for windows. Based on the normality test, it can be seen that the significant value for the academic stress variable is (0.009 <0.05) and the significant value for the sense of humor variable is (<0.001 <0.05), so the population data of the two variables are not normally distributed. In the linearity test, the significant value in Deviation From Linearity is (0.053> 0.05), which means that there is a linear relationship between the academic stress variable and the sense of humor. While hypothesis testing using nonparametric test analysis with Spearman Rank technique obtained a significance value of 0.095 where p => 0.05, this result means that sense of humor does not have a significant relationship with academic stress in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Lilin but more influenced by other factors such as environmental factors, cognitive factors, socio-cultural factors, and social support.
