Abstract

ABSTRACT This aims of this study were to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of Google Classroom in writing activities at SMAN 1 Banyuasin 3. This study used qualitative involving six students as the participants taken by using purposeful sampling with a case study design. In the process of collecting data, the researcher used interview through open-ended questions, and were analyzed by using thematic analysis technique. The findings showed that there were 6 perceptions covering the advantages and limitations. The advantages on the use of Google Classroom in writing activities, were: a) Google Classroom was very practical, b) Google Classrooom promoted students’ motivation in learning writing, c) Google Classroom promoted students’ self study, and the limitations on the use of Google Classroom, were: d) Google Classroom was too dependant on internet connection, e) Google Classroom did not promote peer review, f) The students could not gain clear explanation from the teacher.
