Abstract

Name : Jessica Permata Sari Study Program : Islamic Psychology Title : Academic Hardiness in Final Year Students who are active in organizations and work part time In essence, the task of students is to study, to be able to think critically, to fulfill academic commitments in tertiary institutions. Especially for final year students who are working on their thesis. In fact, final assi gnments are not the only focus of current students. With increasingly diverse needs, many students are encouraged to practice independence by working. Students also choose to be active in organizations to gain experience that supports their careers. As a f inal year student, worker and student activist, having many responsibilities is an activity that can cause stress, therefore a final year student must have the character of academic hardiness, so that students are able to survive in the world of education, organizations or at work. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Methods of data collection through interviews, observation, documentation, and data analysis using the Miles and Huberman models. The subjects of this study were s tudents of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang who were active in organizations and worked part time, namely FA, DV, RZ and AF. The results of this study indicate that FA and RZ subjects have the characteristics of Academic hardiness because they can fulfill aspects of control, commitment and challenges. Meanwhile, AF and DV subjects did not meet the characteristics of academic hardiness because they failed to fulfill the commitment and control aspects of their main obligations as students. There are two factors that affect the subject's academic hardiness, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include motivation, expertise, self-confidence, interest, foundation of belief. External factors include social support, upbringing, gender.
