Abstract
This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and phubbing behavior in students Faculty Psychology, State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang. The research method is quantitative correlational.Determining the sample uses probability sampling. Total sample was 278 people. The research instrument used was emotional intelligence scale which refers to Goleman's theory (2014) and phubbing scale develop by Reza (2021) namely Phub-S. The results of the hypothesis test show that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and phubbing, marked with a significance value of 0.00 and pearson correlation value -0.574. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the higher emotional intelligence of students, then the lower phubbing behavior. Therefore, it is proven that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and phubbing behavior in students at Faculty Psychology, State Islamic of Raden Fatah Palembang. Then hopefully that students can avoid or at least minimize phubbing behavior.
